I have a coopers microbrew kit fermenter with a spigot on it. I use a primary only cause i don't have a secondary has of yet. When i bottle i attach bottle filler directly to the spigot. And i was thinking of dry hopping the IPA i have in the fermenter now when its completly done with fermentaion. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to go about doing this. I don't have a hop bag but do have a 1 gallon paint strainer bag. Would this work with a couple stainless steel bolts in it? I'v heard that u can also just drop the pellets into the fermenter by them selves. But i was worried that i would get hop pellet particals in my final product when bottling. Do you think a paint strainer bag would work ok? Or does anyone know of a better way of dry hopping pellets with this kind of setup? Also if so how long should i dry hop? Thanks in advance. cheese cloth and marbles.

EDIT:

The time is up to to you but I would say a week to ten days.

I use paint straining bags and as TwoFortySX said, marbles. The marbles are to weight the bag down so you can suspend it in the middle of the fermenter. I tried cheese cloth in the past and a lot of hop bits got thru the mesh, so I switched to straining bags. I generally dryhop for 1 week.

Last time I dry hopped I just plopped an oz or so of whole leaf hops into secondary. Whole leaf will help with the particles and such. Also having a bottling bucket or something else to rack to would help separate your brew from those things. :)
