I have a pale ale in the fermenter and only have pellets. I've heard that pellets aren't great for dry hopping. Would it be better to dry hop with pellets (that I'm aching to get rid of...a bit sick of hops for the time being) or not dry hop at all?

go with the pellets. You can either toss them in a nylon sock with sanitized marbles to weigh it down so you don't have to worry about filtering them out when bottling/kegging. Or you can just toss them in loose. Just tie a paint straining cloth to the bottom of your racking cain when your racking to bottling bucket or keg. I just threw some pellets into my IPA and about to throw some pellets into my APA. It also helps to cold crash your beer for at least 24 hours before transferring to help the hop particles sink to the bottom, making easier to rack. Pellets are fine for dry hopping.

I prefer pellets for dry hopping, they break up and just become part of the trub. No problems racking a dry hopped beer so far...

I'd agree with philrose. I used pellets to dry hop an IPA recently (just tossed them in) and didn't have any problems with clogs or bits floating around. They just dissolved and settled on the bottom.

Either/or is fine. Whole leaf doesn't integrate itself into the beer like pellets and can be strained out. Pellets don't clog your racking cane as easy. I've used both and prefer the whole, but they both work.
