Should get tax refund in a few days and swmbo is gonna give me $300 to buy some beer equip. I'm trying to stretch it as far as I can, here's the list of things I want.

1/6 BBL Sankey keg (1-3 of them)
Sankey Fermenter kit with thermowell
Sankey D-Coupler (2-3)
4-Way CO2 splitter with shut off check valves.
Sankey//ball lock conversion kits ( the ones with the 1/4" MFL tailpiece ) 2-3 of them.

If anyone has these things or knows a place to score decent shape used ones let me know.

I've been cruisin eBay and Craigslist in my area.

Used sankeys are going to be frowned upon here. To legally obtain one costs around $125 new and almost never see used ones that aren't owned by breweries. Best bet is to buy cornies. Adventures in Homebrewing has them for $50 right now, or if you're just starting you could save some money and go for pin locks.

Can you share your source for the new ones.

You. An pick up PET 1/6 kegs for about 50

those are corny kegs that have been retrofitted for sankey couplers, they are used
IMO your best option is save some money and get ball or pin locks.
You could also do the plastic kegs if you're hellbent on sankeys

I have plenty ball lock corny kegs and I hate them... I'm moving to Sankey. It works out better for me anyway, especially if I want to bring beer to the nano. Beverage factory has new sixtels for $89 ill just get those.

I'm not trying to start a debate or go over different types of kegs. I've had ball locks for years and for my personal reasons don't want them. If I cant find reconditioned ones here ill wait till the brewery orders another pallet of kegs and buy a few then. Probrewer.com has sixtels occasionally.

I've been on this site for a long time and wouldn't ask anyone to sell me illegal kegs nor do I expect to find them here.

wasn't trying to be an Ahole.
When I started I used less than legal kegs and I transitioned to cornies because I've personally not seen used legit sankeys anywhere. Also I'm a cheap ad didn't want to spend $85+shipping

Cornys drive me nuts... I hate jacking with the lid to get em to seal and I've had issues with poppets sticking and leaking my beer in my keezer.. When my friends started the micro they bought lots of kegs for the brewery.. They are all quarter bbl though or I'd buy some of theirs.. I want 1/6

There are companies that buy retired kegs and recondition them. I was just hoping some ppl on here had some.

Not that this post is helpful or anything, but Damn... I've been picking up 1/6 kegs on CL for no more than $20 each. I've got 7 of them now. I've passed on several because they want $30.

I haven't used them at all. They're just sitting on a shelf down in the basement. Eventually I was going to use them for long term storage for barley wines and sour beers, but haven't considered using them instead of corny kegs.

If you were closer I would've traded you a few for some 1/4 slims. I can't imagine shipping on these are cheap.

I see them posted on a semi regular basis. It's the 1/4 slims that are hard as hell to find. I've only gotten 3 of those. And I don't think any of those came from CL.

I thought I was the only one who wanted the 1/6 kegs since when they're on CL they don't sell very fast.

There they are just sitting on a shelf with a couple of 3 gallon corny kegs.

I'd u take a d coupler and remove the check valve then its basically a filling/cleaning head. I've got 4 now... I never see them on Craigslist.

I'm in Toledo and have a 1/6 bbl. I know it's a little far, but didn't know if you ever come this way.

Check your metal recycle plant. I can pick up used kegs for 2 bucks a pound. These are totally legal to use and most of the time dented up is the reason they are there.

I was able to score 3 legit kegs, 3 couplers, 2 conversion kits, 4 way splitter, and a few extra hex nuts / rubber washers and some misc stuff for ~300 bucks.. i was pretty happy

How do you carb the 1/6s? D coupler with the check valve removed? Do you have to worry about back flow?

only need to take the check valve out if you are wanting to use the coupler as a filling head. Carb it like anything else. Hook up the coupler and turn up the PSI on the regulator and let it sit.

Do you every worry about plain air in the head space going into the beer?

Do you have the keg full of CO2 then fill with beer from the bottom reducing this risk?

you can purge the keg if you want, there's no harm in it. Just take out the retaining ring, pull out spear sanitize thoroughly, purge with CO2, fill with transfer tube, replace spear and ring. Hook up to CO2.. set to ~10psi and turn temp to 36 degrees.

alternatively you can purge with CO2, take out check valve on coupler, hook transfer tubing from your fermenter to the beer out line and let gravity fill it. On the gas in line just have a tube going into a growler. Once the keg fills beer will go through the gas line and into the growler. After all the kegs are full you can clean / replace the check valve and hook it up to CO2

I keep a couple set up just for filling.. it also works to pump cleaner and sanitize through. Cleaners go through the beer out and come out the gas in.
