Does Gelatin affect head retention?

I seem to have good/bad head Karma (Opening myself open for this one). I know the matter of head retention involves many variables a main one being proteins in solution. If gelatin flocs out these proteins does it effect the head retention? How many people out there are getting consistent head on a clear beer? what is your method as far as wheat, barley or carapils, etc.? Thanks in advance.

My one try with gelatin in my keg didn't cause a problem with head retention but I really felt it reduced the hoppiness of my beer and I've not tried it a second time.

once i added way too much gelatin to a 5 gallon batch (1 tbsp!) and I truly believe it messed up my head retention bigtime on my belgium tripel. but it was the clearest beer I've ever made.
