My flying hobby is getting too expensive these days with $6+ gas, so that's why I decided to get into another hobby.
I decided on wood working - specifically wood turning.
I'm 66 and retired, the last time I turned wood was back in high school in '74 - I enjoyed it but that was the last time I turned wood.
I don't have much room in my garage so all the power tools I got were benchtop models.
My first try was a hollow globe Christmas ornament that I just finished.

I turned several tap handles when I worked on an island in Alaska.

Nothing special, just killing some time and figuring hot how to use a lathe.

Yeah, I just turned a pair of simple tap handles to replace the cheap plastic ones that have been on my kegerator for the last 15 years.
I made one from Walnut for the dark beer keg and one from Alder for the light beer keg. :)

I do some wood turning, it is how I got into woodworking. I have a Nova Comet 2 lathe. I enjoy making pens, pepper grinders, bowls and I have done a few tap handles.

It's finally warming up enough in the garage to do some more work working.
This time I just used the left-over pieces of wood from the bowl turning project (and bought a bit of Purple Heart wood) and made a cheese serving board. No sense in letting wood scraps go to waste. :)

I’ve done more than a few tap handles. Then there are the conducting batons, cutting boards, rolling pins, lidded boxes, bowls, serving platters, and pepper grinders. I’ve got a Jet mini lathe. Here’s a few of my projects.
