My one gallon raspberry mead is ready to be racked off the raspberries. Simple question: do you press the liquid out of the raspberries? I want to recover as much as possible!

I've wondered that about all flavourings to be honest too . . . My raisins have repuffed up like grapes and holding LOADS of the liquid lol

A lot of fruit is fine when squeezed/pressed.

But not everything. Just have a search of the various wine sites/forums as some fruit can be problematic, causing some odd effects with cloudiness that won't clear or stuff like that (rhubarb is a big no-no, its a bugger to squeeze and can also be like trying to squeeze jelly if its been in primary).

Raspberry should be ok.......

MIght be a day late, with our red and black raspberry as well as with blackberries and elderberris we really squeeze every drop out of it, King Kong type squeezing, hope you added some pectinase. With something like strawberries if you do that you would get a foot of sediment if you King Konged it, those you do a gentle squeeze. It also depends on your bag, if its really fine mesh you have to squeeze hard to get the fluid out, in a more open mesh you might stop before the seeds start popping out! WVMJ
