I've searched a few times on the site to avoid asking a common question...but can't find any answer. Might just be the search function on the mobile app.

Anyone have a good suggestion to prevent DME from sticking to the bag when I add it to the brew kettle? It has clumped on my during my first two batches. I even added it to a bowl first, still clumped in the bowl. I just don't want to lose the extract if I can help it.

This is probably an easy fix.....

There's not much you can do to prevent this near the steam of a hot pot. It's minimal, so relax, don't worry!

We have a half gallon Pyrex glass measuring cup. Maybe you can get one, pour the DME in it and pour that into the kettle. Then maybe you can dip the Pyrex into the kettle to loosen the clumped DME. Just a thought.

After pouring it into your pot, put some of the liquid into the bowl to rinse.

Yeah, good idea. I've never tried it, but it should work.

When I was doing extract I used to use a bowl but having to refill it often was a pita so I switched to using 1 gallon rubbermaid pitchers and it worked way better (of course, you pour it in with the lid off!). And now that I'm doing AG I can still use them for premeasured water additions to my kettle:
