Difference in PIDs?

is there any major difference from Auberins PIDS and Amico...I was price checking and the Amico one on Amazon is about $20 cheaper:

Seems that some other Amico devices are a bit cheaper, this is a Heatsink & SSR for about $14 when Auberins separately are about $37-40.

I'm new to ebrewing and just searching around based on a diagran P-J supplied. Are Amico parts inferior to the Auberins?

I've certainly heard of people using the mypin PIDs successfully, but if you want to use it on the continuous power setting (0-100%) for boiling you want a TD4 rather than a TA4 model. Try to locate documentation for the PID before buying.

PIDs are a relatively small part of the budget for an electric build so running with the herd and getting an Auber is not the worst idea. The documentation is good and you will likely get quicker feedback from people on this forum because they are so widely used.

The only thing I can say is be very careful. There are very strong reasons why most setups are built with Auber Instrument products.

IMO there's nothing magic about the Aubers. I use a Watlow PID which has better specs and cost half as much on eB*y. You just need to know what you are buying. The cheap ones generally have ropey documentation so it's best to find someone who has used one successfully. And make double sure it will work with the temperature probes you want to use.

I think the real advantages Auber offers are quality products that you know they will stand behind. You can certainly have a good experience buying on eBay, but it is a bit more of a crapshoot getting support if something does not work as advertised, depending upon the vendor.
