Difference Between primairy and Secondairy

I have read in multiple posts about primairy and secondairy.. i was just wondering what the difference is?? I am going to be using a Coopers Kit and then transfering my beer into kegs and force carbing it. So after reading some posts i beleive i only need to go through the primary stage if im not mistaken..
Any help would be great.
