I just got my first kegerator and I bought a new tap handle. I screwed the tap handle on but it didn't quite center right. So, I slowly turned it to fit center and then it felt like something broke and now it just twists and turns freely with no effort. I held the tap in the off position and blew through the line and no air came out until I turned the tap onto the on position. So obviously I broke something but is it something important or nothing?

Kinda need some pictures on this one.

is there a ferrule? Is it plastic?

Standard, Perlick, or other?

What material is the tap handle?

you could have loosened the back nut. Mine has a nut holding it to the tower. hook it to a keg ad co2 and see if it leaks

Why didn't you use the jam nut to properly position the tap handle. It would be impossible to align all the different tap handles out there without the nut, unless you over tighten, which sounds like you did.
