I took a gravity reading last night from the fermenter (glass carboy) for the first time, using a turkey baster. I had to take about 5 samples to fill up the hydrometer tube, and I made a rookie move on the last two by squeezing excess air from the baster after I had dipped it into the beer, causing air to bubble up through the beer. I was otherwise careful, and of course sterilized the baster. How big a deal might this be? Not worth worrying about? I'm planning to bottle this weekend.

Its rooooned!! :D Just kidding...have fun bottling and enjoy the fruits of your labor! What did you brew??

aeration = good (you do this just prior to pitching yeast)

oxidation = bad (when oxygen is introduced to beer during or after primary fermentation)

You oxidized but not enough to hurt it.
