The 6 pack I picked up the other day tastes different from past batches of Dirty Bastard. Sweeter and a little less of the smoky flavor I loved about it. It's still great but tastes different to me. I don't have an old sixer to compare it to, but I could've swore the abv on the old stuff was 8.3, now it's listed at 8.5. Has it just been a while since I had DB or have others noticed this too? Maybe I just got an off batch?

Ever notice how Flat Tire got sweeter and sweeter in the early days? Ever notice how Red Hook Extra Special Bitter became just ESB and sweeter and sweeter? They even refined what ESB stood for. It is funny how craft beers will drift from their recipe as they sell more.

DB is/was my favorite beer and I swear you are right. For the last few months I feel like it tastes different every time i drink it. I still love it every time but I fell like it used to be maltier and smokier. I am dirinking one now (found this thread while looking for a clone).

On a side note regarding Dirty Bastard, I found an old empy bottle in my In-Laws barn this weekend, and it was a twist off style bottle instead of a pry-off. I don't think they would have removed the label off a bottle and put it on a different bottle.
Thoughts?
