Degreasing a weldless fitting

I recently got a weldless ball valve for my kettle. I had no problems installing it and the seal appears to be perfectly watertight. However, the fitting is quite greasy, not only from the oil that I used to install it but presumably from whatever was used to manufacture the thing. This means that anything that comes through the valve tastes of 3-in-1 and I have been having to syphon my wort out. I have tried soapy water but to no avail. Any suggestions how I can get rid of the oil from inside the fitting? Thanks!

You can take 2 piece and 3 piece ball valves apart to clean them.

The 2 piece require two big wrenches to open them up. The ball and seals will come out.

You can then wipe the valve clean if needed and then use some dish soap and water to cut through any of the remaining residue.

Valves with PTFE seals should work fine without lubrication. A little keg lube would work otherwise if needed.
