For the purposes of entering a contest...

What is a dark "IPA" called. Srm about 16-18 and IBU of 60.
Dark Ruby Red color. Lots of hop flavor/aroma as well as bitterness, all well balanced.

What style class should this be entered in?
 
There are only two categories under BJCP 2004 that it can fit into that I can see and they'd be:
19. Strong Ale
23A. Specialty Beer

well your just 1 srm point higher than the highest recomended for an IPA. i don't know anything about comps, but it seems like you could get away with it as a standard IPA.
 
Something that started out as an IPA will probably lack the maltiness for a Strong Ale and be too bitter. Most of the judgings I've seen tend to expect the IPA's to be at the low end of the SRM scale, but it still your best choice.
