I've got some chocolate syrup, that I'd like to figure out it's PPG, for adding as a custom fermentable to Brewers Friend...

The 16.5 oz bottle says it has 12 servings, each serving size is 2 tbsp (40 grams), and contains 24 grams sugar. I thought I could reason it out, but have to admit, my brain doesn't work so well any more! Any one have a good guess?

Each 40 g of syrup contains 24 g of sugar, so the weight % of sugar is 100% * 24 / 40 = 60% sugar. Pure sugar (sucrose) has a PPG of 46.2, your syrup has a PPG of 60% * 46.2 / 100% = 27.7 PPG. However, there is likely to be more in the way of dissolved solids other than sugar, which will also add to the PPG (but be non-fermentable.)

Brew on :mug:
