I live in Denver (ele. 5280) and I want to bring some kegs of beer to my friend in Los Angeles (near sea level) (by car of course). Is there a proper method to do this or is it just a bad idea to begin with?

I was thinking I would force carbonate the kegs (in Denver) for sea level and hope for the best. Should I wait until I get there?

Suggestions, ideas, concerns, observations, previous experiences would all be great.

I live in Wyoming and haul corneys to the Washington coast regularly. Just carb them up the way you regularly do. When you are ready to haul it is much better to transfer to a clean keg leaving the yeast behind. After hauling let the keg sit a couple days before serving, and adjust your CO2 to serving pressure.
 
It's a stainless steel container. It doesn't care what the air pressure outside the keg is, the pressure inside is going to be 12 PSI (or whatever). Unless you have a leak or the temperature changes it is going to stay that pressure weather your in Denver, LA, or the top of Mt. Everest.
