I've made half a dozen brews now, but nothing darker than an amber. So, it's time for me to experiment with some new malts with an upcoming Porter. I used some advice from Jamil's show for the grain bill and expanded it from there.

Following Jamil's advice, I want a nice, balanced porter with a little roastiness but evened out with hop additions. I'd also like to get some biscuit "freshly baked bread" flavor in there as well as add the oats for the mouthfeel.

Expected OG: 1.064
Expected FG: 1.017
SRM: 33
IBU: 35

GRAINS
6 lbs Pale LME
1 lb 2-row
2 lb Munich 10L
.5 lb Chocolate Malt
.5 lb Crystal 60L
.5 lb Victory Malt
.25 lb Black Patent
.25 lb Flaked Oats

HOPS
1 oz Warrior (60 min)
1 oz Glacier (15 min)
1 oz Glacier (5 min)

US-05 Yeast

Any thoughts? Is this grain bill too "busy" or is this appropriate for a porter?

Looks like an excellent porter. If you're looking for a bit of biscuity flavor, try replacing the 2-row with vienna. I would probably use 2lbs of vienna and 1lb of Munich instead also. Either way... looks good. Keep us posted how it comes out.
