So, my 2nd BIAB harvested 3.75 gallons and my OG came in at 1.041 !!!

1st off, I didn't even hit my mash @ 152, stayed at 150 for the full 75 minutes.

And the F*cking directions said start with 5.25 gallons, I should have just done 4.5 where I would have probably hit the target of 3 gallons, and therefore my OG would have been higher. Kit OG was 1.060 for a 60 min boil.

Now I have yet another batch that's gonna have a low ABV, and everything else that comes with 3.75 gallons that only should have harvested f*cking 3 !!!

Better luck next time I guess !!!..........Mother F*cker !!!.......

Sorry it went so wrong for you.

In the future, you can always boil for 90 minutes to get the batch size down or added DME to get the OG up.

And I had such high hopes too !! Everything else went fine...the hop additions, 1 @ 60 min, 1 @ 10, 1 @ 5, and 1 @ 0.....Got the temp down quick, and pitched the yeast (safale 05) at 74 degrees........

I'll get it right eventually I guess.....But I know this one is screwed ! Again !!!

Try to monitor your boil volumes during the boil, what I would suggest is to add your 60 minute addition and boil down toward your final volume, then add your 10 minute addition when the volume is right, NOT per your timer! I don't really boil for a specific time, but rather to a specific volume, usually between 60-75 minutes.

Mark a spoon or something so you know your volumes as you go to avoid surprises like this...cheers.

What harm could be done If I were to add 3/4 of a cup (??) of DME into the carboy while it's still actively fermenting ?

None IMHO, I would simmer the DME in a pint or two of water and cool it...rather than adding DME directly to the fermenter.

Hey man sorry to hear it. First thing I thought was: boil off the extra volume, but sounds like its too late. My first BIAB this past weekend wasn't the greatest either.

How much boiled/cooled DME do you guys suggest ? . I gotta get that gravity up or I may not even reach 4 % ABV.........:(
