So I just purchased a counter pressure bottle filler from NB, which came with the gas lines. For the tubing that the beer flows through, I purchased this separate, with a new ball lock, so I don't have to mess with my cobra tap. I was hoping to get a 3/16 ID tube like my cobra tap, but the guy clipped off about 10 ft of 1/4 ID instead. I got home and put it together before I realized this. 2 questions. Will the 1/4 ID make the beer more foamy, or will this not matter because of the counter pressure? Also, do I want more or less hose to attach to the cp to avoid foam? (I bought it 10 ft so I can clip it down if necessary).

Does not matter if you use counterpressure on either count.

The trick to counterpressure is that the bottle is pressurized substantially higher than the equilibrium pressure of the beer and of course the pressure pushing the beer is somewhat higher than this. If you do all of this gas will not come out of solution in the line or bottle. Most people do it wrong.

Search for posts by jamilz on the morebeer forum (from like 2006) or listen to the brewstrong show on bottling as he has the best info on how to use a hand held CPF.
