How much corn syrup should I use for priming 5 gallon batch of American amber ale

Well lets see -- I assume we're talking about brewers corn syrup not Karo, right?

According to the Cargill website, and using rounded numbers: the syrup is 16% water, and the rest is 80% fermentable. According to tastybrew, you need about 4 ounces of sugar. Cruncing some numbers, I get 6 ounces syrup (rounded off).

That should get you close. Now you owe me a beer!

Welcome to HBT by the way.

ETA: 6 ounces by weight, not volume. Cheers!

I'd use table (100% cane) sugar before messing around with trying to prime with corn syrup. It's easier to measure (by weight is more precise) and all of the priming calculators recognize it.
