well here I an drunk as hell. I realized something tonight. BMC tastes like piss and I will never drink it again. wow it just wow. Couldn't drink it, even under pressure I just couldn't. It tasted soooooo bad. anyone else experience this?

The last time i had bud light it was the only thing to drink, other than water, and i felt like a beer... After the first sip i realized i wasn't going to be able to stomach it, so i chugged it without tasting it (if you can taste it)... Then in the next 15 minutes i 'drank' (downed) two more, with absolutely NO effects on me whatsoever. So yes i only drink it if i'm desperate... I'd sooner drink my Tannin filled Weizenbock than drink BMC.

When I was in college (last year) I hadnt started homebrewing and I couldn't afford good beer everynight. So, I drank budweiser. And, dammit, I enjoy some ice cold budweisers when I'm drinking for a buzz.

BMC isn't the type of beer I really want to drink all the time, but I won't turn down a High Life. Sometimes I just have a wanting for cheap old corny-flavored beer. I like to savor my beer if it's good, but nothing beats a 40 of High Life when you just don't care and want to guzzle some cheap swill.

Some other BMCs, though, I avoid like the plague. Bud Light, Natty Ice, Milwaulkee's Be(a)st, etc.

I don't know - cold beer is cold beer and I'll drink it happily when in the mood for a beer. I like some more than others, but there are very few I will outright refuse.

I just got a six pack of Coors just to see what it tasted like in comparison to all the homebrew I have been making and it really is incredible the difference between the two.

To offer an analogy, I bought some homemade dill pickles at the local farmer's market and they totally blew me away. They had amazing flavor! I will never be able to enjoy the mass produced flavorless Vlasic kind and their like again. Once you are exposed to things of genuine quality, the cheap imitations will never do.

:mug:

You know, there are alternatives from more regional brewers. What comes to mind here in PA is Straub's. I must say, in general it is a pretty good beer for something I would classify as a 'lawnmower' beer. They only distribute in PA and OH I believe, and if you can get it fresh it is hands down well above a BMC in all respects. So keep an eye out for local stuff like that.

Careful! I follow this philosophy if you will, and I make almost everything from scratch now :D.

You can't drink Oatmeal Stout on a hot day, so Bud Light is the perfect solution.

Of course you can :drunk:

Seriously though, maybe it's just me, but I'm the guy who brings beer to every party (homebrew or commercial depending on the company) just so I know that there will be something for me to drink. Personally, I cannot stomach any of the traditional BMC products.

I had a weird thing happen to me last night. I went over to a friends house, all he had was some Bud light, which is what I usually drink when i go out to the bars. I guess i have just been drinking to much HB, because it tasted like crap.

Gonna have to disagree. At the first bonnaroo I was drinking Sammy Smith Oatmeal stouts for breakfast and lunch, they were chilled, was absolutely wonderful.

It's not just because you've been drinking HB. They DO taste like crap.

I'll second that! Big stouts are much more forgiving in hot weather than big red wines ever are.

I can drink a Bud Light from time to time. I'm not really fond of it, and sometimes it tastes like liquid corn flakes to me, but I'll still drink one every now and then.

who's got my heady sammy!

Now that can reason some more, I'll explain more.
Last night there was an hour of free drinks for all the club members of our ski club that would show up to a bar. So free beer naturally I went. Thing was everyone was drinking coors. I grabbed a glass and poured some, but man I took a smell and all I could think of was piss. Smelled god awful. So I went ahead and drank that one cup, but after that I started ordering better stuff for myself like some micro's they had on tap and a couple of imports. Got made fun of big time cause I don't like real beer and all this other nonsense, but all in good fun. Just kinda stayed in my head all night though.

Oh and here's a good one, met a german exchange student.... and he doesn't like beer at all. I was like wtf, isn't that in your dna?

Hey z987k, I feel ya on the Coors. I hate the stuff. Although, first time I got drunk, 14, was on Coors. Got caught too. If I was at a bar that had free coors or micros on tap, I'd be swapping back and forth ;)
