Conditioning my Immersion Chiller

I just picked up my parts to build my immersion chiller from Lowes today and have one question: I read somewhere (probably on here) that I should boil the copper in a water and vinegar solution first time. Is this necessary? (wanted to build it while brewing a batch tonight and don't want to be up till 12.)

Just clean it with some PBW or oxyclean, rinse it and use.

A longish soak in some star san or vinegar solution will remove the oxidation.

I agree with above. Just clean it before use, and if you want it to look like new again, give it a soak in star-san after every few uses.

You might be thinking of the Palmer plan for removing surface lead from brass. If so, it is unneccessary for copper tube and fittings.

The water and vinegar thing is for brass not copper.
