Hello everyone,

I'm brewing my frist kit batch, and it says to bottle the beers and cap them....my question is...i have "growlers" from a local micro brewery with twist caps...after secondary firmentation insted of bottiling 48 beers can i carbonate and condition them in these so called "growlers', or should i just clean and sanitize the bottels the hard way?

The foil caps aren't really designed for that. You can use the flip-top variety, but those will likely make a mess during carbonation.

thanks for the quick replys guys....the growlers i have are the kind with the plastic tops, and i just opend one with pumpkin spice beer from november in it and it fizzed i think ill try 1/2 and 1/2

I had great luck with growlers when i started brewing. The last batch of kolsch i bottled some in a growler. The bottom of the bottle split open and got 1/2 gallon of beer lost to the carpets. Not something i want anyone to experience! more classy to have a 6 pack anyway no?
