Hi,

I've left my cider in wine bottles outside in the cold garage for a couple of nights now and am planning on transferring it to plastic bottles so that I can add priming sugar to carbonate. However, I've heard that this 'cold-crashing' removes the yeast from the cider? Will there be any yeast left in a day or two to eat up the priming sugar?

thanks

steve

leaving bottles in the cold is not the same thing as cold crashing

yes, there will be plenty of yeast left in those bottles. Depending on type of yeast and temp, it may have settled to the bottom, but will wake up as soon as warm.

ahhh ok - so when I transfer them to the 2litre bottles I should transfer the sediment as well? It's a Young's Cider Yeast - I'm not sure what temperature it works best at or anything though...
