Edit - friend is pissed.

You obviously aren't in the know. The barrels were actually from bourbon flavored Ensure.I bet grandmule will taste like **** anyways. It needs more ADJUNCTS... only a base beer in barrels??? For shame CCB.

I'll show myself out...
Why does everything have to be in rum barrels???

I'm of sick of bourbon barrel aged to be honest. Plus the rum fits exactly what Cigar City is all about. Why does everything have to be in rum barrels???

When I say "What they are all about", I am referring to the image that they portray. I see a brewery with a stylish line up of tropical Southern Atlantic/Caribbean beers. What would be more fitting than a rum barrel. Especially a rum barrel from a Florida local like Wicked Dolphin Distillery.ChugLife What is Cigar City all about? Srs
And I will refrain from answering my own question with snarky comments
Yet their best beers are heavy stouts and barleywines. When I say "What they are all about", I am referring to the image that they portray. If you read anything I wrote it was about the RUM BARREL. Nothing about the beer styles that they brew. It was a discussion about.. ANOTHER RUM BARREL BEER!![]()
Yeah, cause heavy stouts and barleywines are EXACTLY what comes to mind as something you want to drink in beautiful warm tropical climates.
I repeat. WAT? No, seriously. WAT?

So did anyone participate in the stress test last night? I was caught up at work and couldn't make an attempt. I assume because CCB didn't offer much of a real chance at obtaining bottles a critical mass of people didn't participate. Anybody have details?

The server definitely crashed a number of times before I was able to get through the entire experience (access site, login with Catador credentials, add to cart and complete transaction.) I'm curious about the # of completed transactions...So did anyone participate in the stress test last night? I was caught up at work and couldn't make an attempt. The server crashed so they're giving the free pint to all members and entering every member into the drawing for the 10 Grandmules.
Wow. My guess is a large number of members didn't even attempt to log on. This doesn't sound promising. I'm sure it was a pain in the ass for them to tally all the emails, but last year's system of reserving bottles was at least predictable and probably less of an overall pain in the ass for them. The server definitely crashed a number of times before I was able to get through the entire experience (access site, login with Catador credentials, add to cart and complete transaction.) Agreed. Not on their servers last year though. I'm far from an IT expert but don't some companies offer plans where the server bandwidth increases as volume does (e.g. increases during these heavy influxes and reduces during less "peak" times?)Wow.
