I just picked a cider press and was hoping to get some help identifying it. Keywords on the castings are as follows:

Pat Jan
2_1872
Nov 19.72
REIS
May 26-74
Jul 21-74
Jun 26.77
Jun 6 76
47

And some of the words I can read where a label was painted are as follows:

Worlds Standard Line

Pictures attached...any clues?

Thanks,
Arkie

Made by Whitman Agricultural, St. Louis but the patent was also licensed to
James L. Haven & Co. Cincinnati Ohio

Here's the cider press in a catalog: notice the foot treadle in the illustration. text
The text says it was shown at the Ohio State Fair, but patents were issued in 1872 to Whitman, so it looks like several improvements were made to the original design.

Here's the patent information:

And here's another patent:

Thanks for posting, I'd like to get one someday and restore it for use.

Thanks for the research and comments! I too think it was a good find...;)

Thank you all for the replies, they were all very helpful!

My next step is to attempt to reproduce the logos on the hopper. The best I can tell one of the logos reads as follows:

"Worlds Standard Line" and the other side reads "H. M. WADE"

Is there any chance that there is actually an image out there on the internet somewhere that can give me more detail on how to reproduce it? I have a friend who is a very talented artist that could replicate it if I had an example. Or better yet, is it possible that replicas actually exist out there somewhere?

Thanks
