Hi Everyone,

This is my first post and I’m glad that you’re all here. My only reference until now has been Papazian.

I have been bitten by the brew bug since brewing two batches with some friends. The first was an extract German Alt and the second an all grain porter, both of which were delicious enough to make me want my own system.

I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge as possible and to making more great beer...all while staying relaxed and unworried of course.

Hey welcome to HBT, this is a great place with lots of good folks.

Thats cool that you're just starting off and have already done an AG batch, props!

Hey, doesn't Fenster mean Window in German?

Thanks for the welcome greenhornet.

I lifted the name Fenster from The Usual Suspects, not sure about the German meaning.

Time will tell if the first AG success was skill or luck...

Howdy,
I am in SoCal too. This is actually my first post here (guess I should do an intro as well). If you can, make time to go to the Southern California Homebrewers Festival in Temecula in early March. It is worth taking vacation days for if you have to.

I only know of two "local" brew shops:
Home Beer Wine and Cheese in Woodland Hills and Mr. Suds in Ventura.

I have not used the internet vendors like more beer, but plan to in the future.

Hey, welcome aboard from a brewer just a few exits down the 101 from you! This is a spectacular community you've stumbled onto and a wonderful resource.

I buy most of my stuff online, but do visit the Woodland Hills shop every other week or so. They have a very decent inventory, and prices on a lot of things are fairly reasonable. (LME and grain both come to mind.)

Another great resource is Tavern Service at 18228 Parthenia St, Northridge. They are the best deal in town for Co2 ($10 even on 5lb refills,) and have all the basic homebrew essentials as well. They also carry an AMAZING variety of kegged beer.
