Hello! I've been a long time lurker. Used to lurk more on the other "green" board until I found this one.

I've been interested in homebrewing for a while but with a bunch of little ones running around the house, I decided to wait until the youngest were three or older.

I brewed my first batch in early November and have now brewed four batches on my own (all specialty grains and extract) and helped two other friends brew a couple of batches. All have turned out pretty good so far, although my first batch was definitely a BIG learning experience!

Feels like I'm hooked already on homebrewing. I'm thinking about joining the local homebrew club in Southeast Houston (the Mashtronauts) and maybe enter a few competitions.

Anyway - hope to learn a bunch more here!

Welcome. Brewing with little ones is indeed a challenge. I have an 20 month old daughter and a soon to be 4 year old son and I am the stay at home 'rental unit.

My son likes to help in the brewery. Sometimes that is fun...

Thanks for the welcome and I hope to keep learning from all you experienced folks.

Zym - I have 5 kids (all boys) that all like to help me out in the garage. So I know what you mean. Mostly they just eat all my snacks and fight over who gets to add the next bunch of hops or who gets to fill up the spare buckets I use to sanitize the beer stuff. Fun for a while, but it can be trying. Luckily, the older ones get bored quickly.
