Okay, so I've poked around the intarwebs, and I've seen a lot of conflicting information on how to carbonate kombucha.

Some articles say just bottle it and ONLY 2-3 days, OR ELSE THE WORLD WILL EXPLODE IN A STICKY KOMBUCHA GLASS BOMB!!!! Other articles say 2-3 *weeks*, and I've also seen some stuff that calls for added yeast and priming sugar?

That all being said, timeline will vary based on temperature, etc...But is there a reliable average timeframe?

I also figured there's enough yeast and sugar in suspension, provided I bottle it while it's still detectably sweet (i.e., not vinegar) that I shouldn't need to add anything.

in my experience i just let the Kombucha sit in the bottle for just 3 days this is what i do:

brew 2 gallons batches for 7 days then i bottle the Kombucha with a tablespoon of standar sugar in each bottle of 355ml.

it come nice and fizzy very enjoyable.

Leaving it out a few days makes mine mildly carbonated, but if you really want it to be bubbly, you are probably going to have to add extra sugar at bottling. 2-3 weeks probably isn't necessary, but around a week seems sufficient in my experience. Simple syrup or fruit juice works well. I've never had to add yeast.

Bottling it early may also work.

Bottle bombs will only happen if you add too much sugar.
 
How many of you use a reptile heating pad to help ferment? With the cooler weather, my batches take twice as long to reach to proper ph.

So I ordered a heating pad and going to see if it helps.

So, anyone using them?

Nah, I just let it do it's thing in the cabinet above my fridge. I keep my house at around 68-71 all year, so it does pretty well so far.
