Hey guys. Just started brewing my 3rd batch last night. Fermentation is going well. I notices that there is nothing coming out of the blow off tube so i checked the cap on my 1 gallon jug and noticed it has a crack in it. Will it still work or is it now a problem for contamination?thanks guys.

During active fermentation there is positive pressure in the vessel so it is unlikely that contamination is a problem at this time. It would probably be a good idea to replace the cap as soon as possible though.

As long as it is still fermenting there will be a nice blanket of CO2 on top of it so you should be good to go. Just fix it ASAP.

Cracked lid is not a problem. Found I had one on a bucket well into the fermentation, and left it alone until bottling day. That's when I tossed it, and the beer was outstanding.

Don't monkey with it, and leave it alone. You'll be fine for this cycle, just swap it out with a new one when you're done.
