Tomorrow I am brewing a stout with the following recipe. I have been waffling back and forth between adding oats or adding some flaked barley for body. I like oatmeal stouts, but I know barley is pretty standard as well. If anyone has a reason for one over the other, I'd love to hear it! Any other recipe suggestions are appreciated as well.

this is a 6 gal batch targeting 1.068 OG

12lbs NW Pale Malt
1lb 2oz Roasted barley
12oz Chocolate Malt
6oz Black Patent
1lb Either Oats or Flaked Barley

Hops
1.25oz Chinook @ 90 min
1oz Willamette @ 20 min
1oz Willamette @ 10 min

Wyeast 1028 - London Ale

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to pick up the flaked barley. Also based on the comments, I think I will adjust the hop schedule as well.

I am going to brew an oatmeal stout this weekend (yooper's stout actually). Looks really good.
