Anyone tried em?

I love that they're so simple. I'm not a fan of throwing half a dozen specialty malts in a recipe. I've never used Candi Syrup either, opting for cheap and easy piloncillo instead. But I've heard good things.

I'm especially intrigued by the Belgian Grande Reserve Lager recipe (http://www.candisyrup.com/uploads/6/0/3/5/6035776/belgian_grande_reserve_lager_--_004x.pdf)

10lbs Belgian Munich
1lbs Belgian CaraMunich
1lb D-45 Candi Syrup

1oz Tettnanger
1oz Hallertau

WLP815 Belgian Lager Yeast

I've looked them over here and there, and made plans to try the Rochefort 10, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Some of the recipes have been tested pretty heavily by HBT members, so those ones ought to be good, anyway. The Westy 12 is the one that comes most immediately to mind. There's a big thread for it in the recipes section here.

I brewed the Westy 12° at the beginning of the year so we shall see how it tastes in December. Unfortunately I could not follow the fermentation schedule completely due to my deployment but I made beer and that all that counts, right?

I've done the westy and Rochefort 10. Both turned out great. Search the forum for westy clone and you'll get good info. CSI participates greatly in the thread.

Thank-you for sharing this. I have a bunch of dark candy syrup, I didn't know what to do with.
