Can someone help me identify this vine/berry?

Fruit does look like a gooseberry, little green balls with stripes, but the leaves of the plant don't. If it turns pinkish then could be gooseberry, but not a variety I've seen before. Also reminds me of a baby chayote, which is a Central American veggie. The reason I say that is the little tendril vines coming off the main stalk, reminds me of squash family.

I know it is not a gooseberry, as they really do not grow in San Antonio. My guess would be a wild cucumber which also goes under the name of melothria scabra. They have a tendency to come up all over San Antonio, down by the Gulf Coast and in East Texas. It can takeover your bed or where ever it is growing. Some people pickle them, but that is about it.

Buffalo Gourds tend to have more of a silver green colored leaves and a little thicker. Hope this helps.

Where are you at? Definitely not a grape or chayote. I agree with Tracyk some kind of wild cucurbit but I only know the Florida ones

I send the photo or take a sample to your local Cooperative Extension office. They have access to University Horticulture and Botany faculty and will be knowledgeable of what is growing in the area. The offices in Texas are set up by Counties. Below is the link for you to select the county you live.

Looks like cucumber to me. Is it growing in an old vegetable bed or compost area? We get squash sprouting out of our compost all the time. We have gotten some pretty good pumpkins that way just in time for halloween.

It's actually climbing a small hedge in the front of the house. (In San Antonio). No previous garden there at least for a while based on the way the hedges are set.
Here's a picture I a flower that opened this morning:

I'll reach out to the ag extension office and see what they think and post back if they give an answer.

If nothing else this gives me another plant to watch in the yard! We realized we had a loquat tree just at the right time to harvest and juice enough to get 1 gallon. I'm toying with several ideas of how to best use it.
