can i use bottling bucket for second stage fermenter? That would mean i could get going on another batch faster in primary when i get another lid and airlock being that i dont have enough fermenters yet Yeah i know i need MO POWER! :)

Secondaries are primarily used for dry hopping and other additions. Let it go three four weeks and bottle up other wise.

Right now I am using my bottling bucket for a dry hop of one week and primary is bubbling away.

I used my bottling bucket as a secondary once for some oaking. Only problem was,no bottling bucket left to rack it to for bottling. Played hell getting the priming solution mixed in well top to bottom. But it did work. Time to build a secondary...

I agree with that. You also do get some yeast mixed back into the batch unless you have another container to rack too, and there you are asking for too much o2 contact.

That's why I use a racking tube. Little or no yeast trub,no o2 mixing in. That was the rub when I used the bottling bucket for secondary. Had to stir up & down to mix without aerating. And the beer was clear to start with.

Ok I hear what everyone is saying Then can i dry hop in primary? If not why? I dont get why cant just do everything in one bucket? Then switch to bottling

Yes, you can dry hop in the primary.

Just get yourself another fermentor - Better Bottle, or bucket, whatever. Then you can get your second batch going. You can do two batches at once, or plan on having one available for secondary should the need arise.

Cheers!
