LOL, they're drying now, and going in the oven tonight for brew day tomorrow....
I ended up doing 2 days at 58, 14 hours at 159, 2 hrs at 170, And I kept a couple pounds that I toasted for about 20 minutes or 300, Going to mash it together at 150 to 155 With maybe a 1/2 pound of Flaked barley, Sorry I can't think of what it's called right now, Been busy and out of town so this weekend will be the 1st chance I get probably grind my grain Wednesday night, Going for something like a wheat beer but we'll see how it turns out says going to be definitely a game changer if it turns out like I want it, I have about a 100 pounds of barley and a 100 pounds of oats plus what I planted I should have anor 50-60, pounds of barley come in the fall.
I will keep you posted,

On a side note when I went to the amish store to get some wheat they didn't have any, luckly the other store did and they said it's getting harder and harder to get, And this is the reason I want to become self sufficient as much as I can in brewing,

5 pounds of barley malted and dried slowly at a cooler temp, Along with 4 pounds of wheat, I mashed tonight At 150 using the double bag method , sparge dunked n let Soak for 15 minutes before straining, for a 5 gallon batch, Boiled for one hour, Adding the hops at the beginning and another 2 and a 1/2 ounces at the 30 minute mark, , my hydrometer thinks it'll be about 5%, now we wait, Sorry I'm probably leaving out details but I will know in about a week how it looks and taste, It looks a little light in color and I kind of wished I would have added some more toasted grains but we'll see
On a side note I think I have a pretty good process down now.. There is a few more tweaks I will probably make to the whole process but I'm really liking how everything is working that's assuming the beer turns out,🍺

for a 5 gallon batch that put's it around 80% effec? pretty damn good! :mug:

when you say hydro puts it at 5%, are you figuring it will finish at 1.012, with a og of 1.053? like beersmith tells me?

hoping 1.012, its a cobbled recipe of my own making

Dumb question but if I want A Fuller body or more alcohol do I just increase the grain amount? and adjust mash temps accordingly

i think so, and also mash water to keep the qt/lb ratio the same...which is why there is a limit to when your effec will take a nose dive....

It's a little light but taste is not too bad but has at least another week the other week in the secondary. Hopefully the green taste will not be there I don't know how much more of the 2nd to the bad c*** batch I have left to drink, I can stomach,

My hazy IPA using all the techniques I've learned so far and at turned out really good other than I'm drinking it from a swing top versus a glass, So what else do you do on a hot summer day but enjoyThe fruits of your labor poolside

but im happy that its clearer than my last couple, process is improving

how are you deculming?

edit: i forget, how many pounds are you doing? i was storage tote to storage toting it infront of a box fan, which was a pita enough. i got a used dryer, modified it with some SS screens, and now i just dump the malt in it and set and forget it for about 30 minutes, malt comes out cleaner then pro store bought malt....rootlets are the bain of clarity....

edit 2: oh and a leaf vacuum bag on the vent to collect the rootlets also....
