I have a 32 qt stainless steel that I want to install thermometer in to, my friend is a professional welder so she is down to install it for me be for free. Anyone have a recommendation on a thermometer for my kettle? Any experience doing this?

I recently purchased a thermometer from bargain fittings.com

I use it in my hot liquor tank, and after calibrating it I can say it is a nice addition to my equipment!

Mine is screwed into a fitting that was welded into my HLT.

I was going to do this as well. Then I bought a thermoworks DOT and am very glad. Less to worry about cleaning around stuff in the brew kettle, and I got the 12" probe which just sits in the kettle during the mash and has alarms when temps get too high or low.

I also see good deals for threaded and weldless thermometers for kettles on morebeer.com.
