Not quite on par with Rastlos but pretty close

This made me laugh when I read it. At The Gates won the Swedish version of the Grammys. Of course this made me laugh because Tenacious D won our (USA) best hard rock / metal Grammy this year for performing a cover song (Dio - "Last In Line"). It is not that I even pay attention to the Grammys, but it is kind of confusing how the RIAA can be so clueless year after year. Why don't they just get rid of the category all together if they are not going to put any thought into it. Anyway, good for At The Gates!

I heard this a while back on Bloody Roots on Liquid Metal. The whole show was dedicated to metal covers of Beatles songs. Here is an oddly faithful cover of I Want You (She's So Heavy).

I love this version of the song. The duel drum intro is badass. This tour would have been amazing to see live, but the album is pretty damn good on its own.

Huge Ministry fan! Esp the early stuff. The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste is now on my listening list for the day.

My favorite Ministry record:

...My favorite Ministry record...

I'd probably have to agree. Kind of their last hurrah with the synth stuff and first dip into the full-on metal material. I may even concede Mind is a more focused album but I enjoy listening to Land more. Their 3 album run of Land, Mind and Psalm are practically untouchable.

You lot will probably laugh at this. But south africa has their first propper metal festival ever this april. The likes of:
Epica
Carnifex
Hatebreed
Kataklysm
Fleshgod apocalypse
And more to apear. Super amped!!!!

Sounds like a good time to me! :mug:

I didn't get this record until the end of 2014, and didn't give it enough attention. Been spinning it a good bit lately, and it is pretty f*ckin' stellar! Crust, sludge, black, death, and hardcore. It has it all (in only 3 tracks no less!). But it doesn't sound like a complete and total cluster even though they touch on all those genres. Extremely cohesive and impressive release I should have been jamming all 2014. Check it out!

I've been diggin' on this record a lot the last few weeks. The band is called Ruby the Hatchet. They've got a late 60s vibe, kind of like if The Doors played Black Sabbath's music and Jim Morrison was a woman. Very cool. It's not balls to the wall metal but it has the vibe. If you are fans of Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, this should be right up your alley. The whole album is stellar and some of it is pretty heavy. The is the last song on the album and is more spacy, trippy and psychedelic.

It's the season again! This song gave me a smile on my way to work the other morning:

Lyrics:
I went to bed one night,
Tired from a 12 hour shift.
My hope was to fall asleep very tight,
but my shut-eye was about to drift.

When I turned off the light and closed my eyes,
the well-known sound appeared.
A tiny little fella, with a taste for blood,
started flying around in here.

It drives - me - insane!

It just sat there on the wall,
waiting for the perfect time.
It’s been there for hours,
planning the perfect crime.

Mosquito! Mosquito!
Built to annoy the **** out of you.
Mosquito! Mosquito!
When you try to swat them they pass - right - through.

It passes my ear, i open my eyes,
stumble out of bed, to turn on the lights.
I scout the walls, to find the little pest.
But now it is gone, so I continue my quest.
Armed to the teeth, from the local supplier,
a spray can should do it - fight it with fire!

Mosquito! Mosquito!
Built to annoy the **** out of you.
Mosquito! Mosquito!
When you try to swat them they pass - right - through.

The curtains caught on fire, I escape the room just in time.
The flames are spreading fast, out of the window I climb.

My house is burned to the ground, it went fast when it spread.
But it brings a smirk to my face, knowing the mosquito is dead...

The new Tribulation has been on serious buzz mode for the last month with folks on either side of the fence. Some people are ticked, and some people love it. Now if you are expecting Tribulation a la "The Horror" this new album might not be for you, but with songs this f*ckin good, I don't care if they have pretty much ditched their Death Metal sound. IMHO, this album slays from start to finish, and is on my short list for AOTY already. There is not a full album stream on YouTube, but I have embedded the 2nd track off the album. If you like it, buy the dang thing, cause all the tracks are this good. It will not disappoint!

He these guys are great, I got to see them at the Soul Bar in Augusta, GA in 2012. It was a weeknight and they where running super late but everyone hung out waited for them to arrive. When they showed up thinking they lost a gig, everyone was still just hanging out drinking. Once they found out that everyone stayed out to see them, they set up quick and ripped sh*t up. pretty sure last call was before the band even started (last call is 2am around here)

Quake, you are a better fan than me. My old a** would have left before 2am. I would love to see them though. I have heard from a bunch of folks that they kill it live.

I mean, I understand you could just put on a Death album, but this still kicks serious a**! The leads Matt Harvey lays down are nasty. Worth your time if you are into old school american death metal.
