Usually when i brew a lager i transfer to a keg for lagering to get it off the cake..The current batch i have (BGSA) i plan on lagering until its clear before bottling..Should i transfer to a secondary for the lagering or just keep it in the primary? i have cbc 1 yeast which i plan on adding along with the priming sugar..i dont want to lager this batch in a keg cause it will throw off my co2 volume for bottling,so what is your opinion lager in primary or rack to secondary for this beer? im gonna go at least a month lagering time to really try and clear the beer up
 
I’d get it off the cake if you plan on leaving it to go another month.
 
I wouldn't rack it since you'll pick up oxygen in the process and you don't have any active yeast to scavenge it.
 
...i dont want to lager this batch in a keg cause it will throw off my co2 volume for bottling....

use the keg and skip the force carb.
it’ll make life easy at bottling time.
add prime then push into bottles with CO2 and a cobra tap.
 
I'd just leave it in the primary. 6 weeks isn't enough to ruin a beer, just make sure it's airtight. A beer clears really well when left in contact with the trub.
 
Thanks for all your inputs, i was just thinking maybe after primary and clean up i can just cold crash the beer and add gelatin to drop out chill haze, yeast etc which will probably only take a few days then bring it back to room temp prime, add cbc1 and bottle..what do you think about this idea?

some people say it can strip some flavour and hop taste/aroma but i recently used gelatin on my beer for the first time and all it did was make it beautifully crystal clear, tasted and smelt great.

Someone also did an exbeeriment on gelatin and basically the end result was, without seeing the beer (the beer was served in a red plastic cup) people were mostly unable to tell the difference in aroma/body/taste from the beer with and without gelatin. I think people saying that gelatin can strip flavour is just another over dramatic worry that some brewers add to the brewing process. Your beer certainly isn't going to come out bad because you used gelatin, that's for sure.
