I am planning to build few thermowells, any ideas where can I get some stainless tubing 5/16 ID ?

Open minded, looking for alternatives. I can't see why I'd spend $20 for one 15" thermowells. It's a rip off!

Drop me a line. I am still searching ebay :)

I think this should do it - Welded Type 304 Stainless Steel Tubing, 3/8" OD, .245" ID, .065" Wall

Can you tell me how do you connected the thermowell to a carboy ?
Thu a stopper, thru a carboy cap ? I am looking for right size fitting (OD).

I found one at promising but the 3/8 OD sounds a bit too thick for me

ID .305"
OD 3/8"
Wall .035"

????????

3/8 tubing too big, (thick)?

Fitting for what?

I would put the thermowell through a stopper for a carboy.

Were it me, I would get a stopper with no holes, so you could offset the holes for the thermowell, from the hole for an airlock.

I don't know if such a stopper already configured as such, already exists.

Be advised: drilling thick rubber can be a little tricky, to get a true hole size that you seek..........

Unless the rubber is frozen.........Ideally, with liquid nitrogen!:D :mug:

I was thinking to get one that fits those carboys caps so it might be thicker that I need. If I'd use a stopper I'd probably be just fine if use liquid nitrogen freeze it and then drill it :)
