Is it better to buy individuall parts for converting to a kegerator or are does it still come out about the same as buying a conversion kit?

Where is the best place to buy quality on a budget?

I spent a little time looking at this when I was selling some shanks and stuff. I was just trying to figure out a fair price for the stuff I wanted to get rid of.

From what I saw, there were no price difference between buying a kit from some vendor vs buying all of the individual pieces from that vendor. I didn't look into this intently, but looked at 3 or 4 online places to get compare parts to kits.
