You know what would set them apart ?

Making a product that tasted 'good' ( not great, just good would help go along way )

S

"Good" is subjective. Caviar is considered "good" but tastes like salty goo sacks to me.

They make a consistent product to a high standard. Someone thinks it's good, a lot of someones actually.

Agreed. I love light beer. I also like just about every other beer too.

It's not ALL advertising that sells more light beer than every other style combined. It's because people genuinely like the taste of it more often than other styles.

Bud Light is fine for what it aims to be. It's far from being my favourite, but it has its place and knows exactly what its target market is. I enjoy it on a hot day when I'm playing softball.

"And it looks a lot like a craft beer. For the first time in eight years, Bud Light has a new look. The new beer can design is still the brand’s trademark blue, but the designs—including the reintroduction of the historic “AB” brewer crest for the first time in 14 years—imitate the intricate prints on many craft beers. The brand, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev BUD -0.26% , is also working on a new tagline in time for the Super Bowl."

“In 2016, we’ll put a more modern twist on Bud Light, from the way the brand looks to the way it acts,” Bud Light’s vice president of marketing Alexander Lambrecht said in a press release. “We’re proud to introduce our fresh new look, which pays homage to our most iconic packaging of the past, yet feels current and unique with its bolder logo and distinctive blue colorway. It’s a design that truly stands out from what’s become a sea of sameness in the light beer category.”

okaaaaay...but the beer is still the same inside, so really no true difference where it really counts.

Full disclosure: My SWMBO used to own an ad agency that specialized in branding, so I understand the marketing thing, but they come off like they really changed something important about the brand! Yea right!
Vice president of marketing is by far the most important job at Bud Light.

If you don't count the fifteen different bottle types and the NFL specialty cans in the past eight years, sure. Totally new look.

I'll hold out for the bowtie vortex cans.

Regular BUD has flavor.

BUD Lite is pretty much tan-colored water as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. I like budweiser. Still trying t male an acceptable light lager.... not much success yet. I give people credit than can make a perfect crisp light beer without off flavors.
