Hey guys I use brown sugar all the time when I'm bottling, some people tell me to use brewing sugar. What do you guys think? I havnt had a problem at all so I thought I would ask everyone with more experience, cheers!!
 
I use it with delicious results in my pumpkin ale and a winter warmer I brew. They say the actual ferment able content is a little less reliable than what you'd purchase as 'bottling sugar' at your lhbs, but just as long as you are careful with your amount and not super incredibly picky about your carbonation, you should be good :)
 
If it is working for you and you like the final taste of your beer then keep doing what you are doing, there is nothing wrong with it!
 
Isn't it more expensive? If so and your okay with that, go for it. I use honey which is another expensive alternative to corn sugar
 
It's not really that expensive but I like it better then raw sugar coz I gave that ago and that wasn't bad either so I might stick to what I like. Honey sounds nice how much do you put in there at one time??
 
Maybe it's just me, but that bit of molasses from the brown sugar just doesn't seem to taste good in beer. It may have some merit or gets masked better in a spiced holiday/Christmas/winter ale, but I'm not sold on it.

2-3 tablespoon per gallon. So like 63 grams would be a weight PER gallon of a high end carbonation...42 grams would be a lower end carbonation. Heat it up (no need to boil) in some water and make sure to stir until its all mixed. Proceed as normal
 
I like some brown sugar in a brown ale, old ale/winter warmer, so using brown sugar to prime just gets you a little more of that flavor. I just used some on my Mild to give it a little more flavor. I wouldn't use it for an IPA or anything, though.
 
I havnt done an IPA yet but I'm always up for a challenge and doing different things with experimenting brewing my beer and tasting different flavours with sugars so I'm going to keep doing my thing as I'm having fun. You guys have been great with everything. Talk soon and keep brewing!!

Might taste good in something like a Sam Smith's Taddy Porter clone. The recipe calls for a little molasses or treacle anyway.
 
I used it in an emergency once, the beer turned out fine. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

I used the same amount by weight that i would have used of bottling sugar, about 4 oz.
