Hi, noob here and I broke my hydrometer! Now I know there are thousands of little tiny balls in there but whT I'm wondering or if I can get your experience is if I should go ahead and try to bottle this 5 gallons of cider or if I should dump it and start over?
I failed to mention I broke the hydrometer inside my carboy soooo at least all those balls are contained in the carboy.

Usually the little balls are lead, though I’ve heard of other materials being used. I don’t think it’s enough lead to hurt you, but I for one wouldn’t test it. Also likely many shards of fine glass in there. Not worth $25-$50 bucks in my book.
