Broken hydrometer Grrrr

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I guess I've now joined the ranks of the broken hydrometer club. Of course naturally to be done right it would have to be in the middle of a brewing session.

Would I be able to store a few ounces of this wort in the fridge for a day or two till I can get to the store to buy another? I can't see where it would change anything?

It might start fermenting naturally but I'm sure a couple days in the fridge would be fine. Don't forget to add yours to the broken hydrometer count thread.

Damit, I can't tell you how much I've babied that dang thing to protect it. I am on a double brew day this evening and was dumping just a few drops from the tube when I heard it crash to the floor.

The thing was off a cpl points anyway, but grrrr. It would have to be when I needed to get a pre-boil reading.

No OG for this batch till a a day or two. Lol

Sounds like a good reason to get a refractometer. Much harder to break, easier to take readings on the fly, no need to wait for a full hydro sample to cool, and best of all if the neighbors didn't think you were making meth before, they will once they see you taking samples through that "contraption"
