Brewing In Lake Bluff, IL

Hello Hello. My name is Lisa and I am obsessed with the whole beer world. It started out by me and my friends going to beer tastings... then brewery tours... and it just grew from there. Until finally I decided I must brew my own.

I am only three weeks into it at this point and I am having fun. I started with a MR. BEER kit (GASP!) but for someone like me who gets annoyed with long drawn out instructions and such, it was perfect.

My friend Ed offered to help me brew my own but said his boil pot would be to heavy for my flat stove top... thinking I was doomed to never ever brew my own, I broke down and bought the kit.

I'm very happy with it and someday maybe I will move away from the Mr. Beer kit ... but I'm not ready for that yet.

Welcome. There is a long sticky thread about Mr. Beer, with many useful hints. If you do a search, you'll find others. Many people here started with one and some find it sufficient long-term.

Sounds like you're well on your way to some quality homebrews, welcome to the obsession. It does seem like the Illinoisans are coming out strong. Good luck with the new equipment and keep us posted on how things are going.
