My apologies if this has been asked and answered, but my searches have resulted in thousands of links and no solid answers that I could find.

In reading the messages on this board, there seem to be a lot of "breweries" with little more than a name and a fermenting bucket. Do some states require a license and therefore a brewery name?

I'm in Kansas and the laws here seem to be "you can brew beer, just don't take it out of your home". Are there states that require you to represent yourself as a brewery with a name, etc.?

The vast majority are amateur home brewers and not licensed breweries. They name their setup as a brewery for fun and not for professionalism. It's just a hobby for them. I'm a licensed brewery.

Are you asking if you need a license to homebrew?

I don't think there are any states that have a requirement like that!

Here in Oregon we had a similar problem with not being able to take your beer out of the house but that got fixed Monday woo hoo!

Good luck!

Well,in my case,I also joined the cooper's forum (they call it the guild). To put your location on the map,you have to give a "brewery name". I just thought it was a cool little thing to do. But you don't have to as a home brewer.
