Brewer's Best LME ppg question

I picked up a a couple of cans of Brewer's Best LME to shorten my brew day and the PPG listed is confusing. It gives a range of 1.4250-1.4397. Anyone know how to decipher that?

I saw a question asked on a retailer website about what ABV can be expected from this and they said for 3 cans (9.9 lbs), you would get 1.061 SG for 6 gallons. That works out to about 37 PPG which is what I would expect for LME.

Is the label a typo? Or is there some other PPG calc I'm not aware of?

Looks like specific gravity, not PPG. Going by 80.2-82.3% extract by weight (Plato), looks like typical LME specs. 36-37 ppg is about right.

I thought of SG, but if that's the case, there's a missing 0. If it was 1.0425-1.04397, that would make more sense. Plus, with extract, you'd think they would just list the actual PPG like 36 since efficiency is 100%.

No, it's the actual SG of the extract. It's correct as listed.

Oh, yeah, that makes sense. So you gotta take a weighted average of the volumes and SGs of the extract and water to get the SG of the mixture.

Assuming 81.25 percent extract (average of the listed Plato), and assuming sucrose is 46 ppg makes the extract 37.4. PPG.

Simple.

Using the SG and the weight of the extract, I backed out the range of PPG to 35.8-36.6 ppg which seems in line.
