I've spent a couple days searching the forums but couldn't find anything recent (expired links, companies out of business) but I am in the market for a brew kettle.

I only see myself doing 5 gal batches (because I would prefer variety) and plan to get a 48qt icecube cooler as a mash turn - I want to go all grain. As a result the old camping kettle is too small and I figured I would get a nice pot - about 10 gallons.

It seems that I don't really need a thermometer - only use it for mash water and the floating one works fine. So it seems a good pot with a drain/ball valve and a thick bottom to prevent burning is the ticket. I don't want to spend the $300 on bilchman so I'm having a hard time finding something good. If the thermometer isn't much more, ok. I prefer welded fittings.

Thoughts and ideas?
