Hello guys, I have a pot with resistance and sometimes cereals go to the bottom of the pot and want to avoid that. I am thinking of using a bag for cereals going over to the opposition. Is that by using the bag, I use more water than usual and increase the temperature?

You can get a paint strainer bag from a hardware store or you can buy a brew bag on any of the homebrew online shops. They work well for brew in a bag brewing

I already bought one on ebay, but I can use the same time, temperature and amount of water I use in Mash or have to increase?

yes you can, most people that do Brew in a Bag use full volume because it's easier. If you're doing a full 3 vessel system there is no reason that you wouldn't be able to use a bag as a faux false bottom for the stuff that can increase the chances of a stuck sparge, i.e. lots of flaked wheat

oh sorry. I misunderstood your question...

You can mash in the full boil volume if you'd like or you can do the usual total lbs of grain multiplied by 1.25 quarts of water to get your mash volume and then sparge up to your boil volume. It's whatever you want to do.
I will say that sparging with a biab (brew in a bag) brew is a total pain in the butt. You need a way to hoist the bag or a colander that can fit over your kettle. I used to sparge doing biab but after a year of doing that I just built a mash tun.

So no need to increase the amount of water? It is by chance that I downloaded the application of methyl beersmith and specifications of my pan, etc., and the program error and asks to add more water.

No problem :)
well, I got into the pan where the resistance has another pan with a false bottom, but the problem is that this pot has a little wide hole and cereals sometimes pass for next resistances.
Now the question is:
- if I use the bag, I do the normal process or have to raise the temperature and time of Mash?

Correct, just use your normal profile that you would use for any other beer you've made. You don't need to tell beersmith that you are putting a bag in there.

Brew in a bag isn't really different from the other methods. It's simply a way to separate the grain from the wort after the mash.

IF you increase the amount of water for the mash and don't sparge, then you will have to use a different temperature water. The reason is that you are using MORE hot water, and LESS cool grain. So you won't need water that's as hot or it will make the mash too warm.

Any brewing software should calculate you temperature needs.

Already understood! Thanks for the help you have given me!

Beersmith can be difficult to get to work properly every time.

Once you discover what is wrong then you can make it work great. You just have to figure out why it's off and adjust the setting.

I'll try to see what is the error that I have, but I can if I can't find the error can make beer normally with the bag, right?

Yes.

If you are doing full volume BIAB then you can probably simply use one of the online calculators to get water measurements and temperature.

Actually, the math to get water amount is easy to do if you read up on it. Grain will hold a certain amount of water per pound, and then you have the remainder for the beer.

My Android app will tell me how hot to get the water if I tell it how much water and grain, and what temp the grain is.

Well, I've managed to fix the Beersmith! It now seems that with the measurements of water eheheh
What is the app that you use for Android?
