Well, the setup here is a bit different. I used to have a keg setup in Portland long ago, cornies and all that. I don't think these are sankey kegs. But the kegs themselves are beer kegs from a local brewery, 30 liters for the ones I bought. And, here, you can buy kegs from distributors without breaking the law. The kegs aren't stolen. The dispensing unit is called a točionik here in Croatia. "Točeno pivo" means "draft beer".
Anyway, that dispensing unit has the taps and the head there and it sits atop a cooling unit. So, the beer is cooled on the way to the glass. It was bought from a friend of a friend who does this stuff for restaurants and cafes, so presumably this is the way it's done in those places. Less than ideal for maintaining freshness, yeah I know. But I bought this to use at parties which is great. I'll be brewing some beers for a barbecue on the 1st of May, which is sorta like the 4th of July in the States in that there seem to be lots of barbecues. It's Labor Day, though, in most of the world outside of the States.
Anyway, thought I'd post this. It's way different than what I'm used to from the old days. And, for all you bottling hating keggers, no, I won't be switching over entirely. I think bottling is very useful for most beers and makes giving away a beer easier. I figure I'll likely keep one beer on tap in the basement in the cold months and bottle the rest. All of my fridges and freezers are already in use for other stuff (that's a chest freezer it's sitting atop, for fermenting, and a fridge behind it for bottle conditioning), so during the warmer months I won't likely use the kegs except for parties.
